RECTORY POOL - Last season, water closed 23rd Nov

21/11/2022 - Latest News

It is with regret that we need to inform CAPS members that this season will be the last that we have the lease to fishing rights at Rectory Pool. Our lease will end on 31st Dec 2022.

As some people may be aware the landowner has obtained planning permission for exclusive housing on the site and with this permission in place is now selling (has sold) the land for onward development. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/124759433#/?channel=COM_BUY

With our contract due to end this season we obviously tried to negotiate with the landowner (who has been pleased in the way we have managed the fishery) to see if there was anything that would enable us to continue to fish. However, the water frontage is seen as a valuable asset to the housing development and as such there was nothing unfortunately we could do to alter the outcome.

We do have permission to try and remove some of the existing stock and to that end the water will be CLOSED on Wed 23rd NOV  to enable the fishery officers to try and remove some fish. Depending on what is removed will dictate where the fish might be relocated.

Losing any water is obviously disappointing but the club remains committed to trying to obtain new waters and is actively looking for any new opportunities these are however in very short supply. In this regard we maintain a regular contact with land agents such as Savilles and Strutt and  Parker to alert us to any established lakes that become available or any suitable land for sale that could be developed into a fishery. Should any member become aware of such opportunities please drop a committee member a message
