All, following our first season of Pike Fishing at Brakes Pit and based on some of the learnings of the successful first pike season CAPS will again be putting in place a limited number of permits to fish Brakes for Pike. Based on the previous experience a couple of changes have been made.
1) We have increased the number of permits to 20 from 15 in each period.
2) Brakes Round pit will not form part of this arrangement and be able to be fished by any member for Pike in line with other waters and CAPS rules.
Pike Fishing will be allowed in 2 periods - 1st Nov to 20th Dec and from 11th Jan to the end of February all dates inclusive - Fishing from 07:00 to 17:00.
Only 20 adult anglers will be given the right to fish for pike during these 2 periods (20 in Period 1 and 20 in Period 2) - 40 Anglers in total. To enter the random draw for one of these permits please enter your details below, there are NO additional fees. The selection of the 40 anglers will be drawn at random at the end of Oct at the CAPS Board meeting using the https://namepicker.net application to ensure everyone has the same chance and the draw will be recorded and shared. All successful applicants will be notified by email. Brakes bailiffs will hold a list of those allowed to pike fish, anyone caught Pike fishing outside of this list will be banned. A full list of minimum tackle requirements and bait limits can be found on the relevant news item on this website, but will also be included in the mail we send successful applicants.
I hope that members appreciate the continued cautious approach that the club is taking in respect of this water. There are very few waters in Essex that hold fish of this quality and we want to protect as much as possible some of these old and wonderful fish. As many will know despite their size Pike can be a very fragile fish if not handled correctly or the same fish repeatedly caught.
Best of luck to all who apply.
